Our History
Since 1990, PAC has served the local community by providing quality programs that enrich, educate, enlighten and enthrall audiences of all ages – ensuring art is for everyone. It has done so with the help of countless volunteers who have served on its board of trustees, participated on planning committees, ushered at its events, and worked with students in classroom programs.
Our programming continues to grow and participation with long-established programs has increased. Results from community-wide surveys show that the community clearly wants the arts in Piqua and feels that PAC does the job of meeting that demand. Area corporations and businesses have been generous in their support of our programs since its inception as a committee of the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce. PAC has used those donations to produce programs that benefit residents of all ages, from the very young to the elderly.
In the year 2000, PAC reached a stage in its growth where the need to hire professional staff was imperative to continue offering quality arts activities and services to the Piqua community. A part-time professional was employed to oversee all PAC activities assuming the title of Piqua Arts Council, Executive Director. This individual coordinates volunteer efforts, administers and prospects grant requests, assists with other fundraising, spearheads public relations and communications strategies, and manages the budget.
The addition of an executive director has provided PAC with a new level of organization promoting more efficiency within the organization. The Executive Director working in tandem with the Executive Board and Board of Trustees provides checks and balances and better structure in the organization than ever experienced before.
